What is a percentile?

In statistics, a percentile (or centile) is the value of a variable below which a certain percent of observations fall. For example, the 20th percentile is the value (or score) below which 20 percent of the observations may be found. The term percentile and the related term percentile rank are often used in the reporting of scores from norm-referenced tests. Source : wikipedia

The 25th percentile is also known as the first quartile (Q1), the 50th percentile as the median or second quartile (Q2), and the 75th percentile as the third quartile (Q3).

As per CBSE CCE Website Percentile is the percentage of students getting score below the score of a particular student. For example, if there are 100 students in a
class and 04 students are together at Percentile topmost (maximum) mark, then the percentile rank of each of these students will be 96.

Many students who appear in CAT, MAT , IIT JEE and other Entrance Exams come across the term Percentile and some confuse it with the Percentage

AIPMT 2010 Results to be released in April 3rd Week by CBSE

AIPMT 2010 Results to be released in April 3rd Week by CBSE

The result of AIPMT 2010 (Preliminary Examination) will be declared by the IIIrd week of April, 2010 by CBSE and the same will be hosted on Board’s website aipmt.nic.in. Candidates qualified for the AIPMT Final Examination would be issued a separate admit card indicating new roll number and other relevant details.

The result of AIPMT 2010 Final Examination will be declared by 1st week of June, 2010 and the same will be hosted on Board’s website. CBSE will prepare the merit list/ wait list as per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, DGHS and MCI.

CBSE Class 12 Board Exams Results on May 20 & May 22, 2009

CBSE Class 12 Board Exams Results on May 20, 22

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will declare the Class XII (12) Board Exam Results for Chennai, Ajmer and Panchkula regions on May 20, 2009 at 10:00 Hrs. Results for Class 12 for other regions i.e., Delhi, Guwahati and Allahabad regions is scheduled to be announced on May 22, 2009 at 10:00 Hrs.

Students can get the results on their e-mail addresses by registering themselves on websites – www.results.nic.in and www.cbseresults.nic.in.

The schools can also get their entire results by registering on these websites and giving their school code and e-mail address.

Various mobile phone operators will also provide results over phone and through short message service (SMS).

This year, 637,578 students – 264,248 female candidates and 373,330 male candidates – took the class 12 board exams in the country and abroad.

The results of the CBSE class X examination (Rest of India) Declared

“The official date for publishing the Class-X results is May 29. Results of one or two regions could be out on May 28. The results will be available on the Internet from 8 am,”

CBSE results of the Class XII examination, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), was announced on May 21 and 23rd.

The result for the Chennai Ajmer and Panchkula regions will be announced on May 21 and those for Delhi, Guwahati and Allahabad regions will be declared on May 23, a CBSE release said on Monday. The results would be put on the CBSE Results website www.cbseresults.nic.in
